The new digital camera came today, so I was trying out perspective shots, like me looking out from under the other end of the table.

My grandparents let me borrow their car, so I took the chance to stay over and chat for a while tonight.

The middle of Indianapolis is a traffic circle with a large memorial to Hoosiers (they really call themselves that) who died in various wars.

The Lafayette Brewing company doesn't make IPA anymore, so John had the Eighty Five.

I took a picture in the bathroom mirror at the Lafayette Brewing Company, a microbrewery in quaint downtown Lafayette that John introduced me to.

We took a twenty-four foot Ryder truck.

Riding to Bible study this evening, I was struck by the brick red chimneys of the physical plant contrasting against the deep blue post-storm sky. My fifteen dollar camera failed disastrously to capture this scene.

Julianna, Bryan and our guest were yacking it up tonight int he kitchen.

There was a giant storm today. The rain came down in sheets.

After the storm, the forest across the street was a lustrous green.

This house on Liberty street has an American flag and a Canadian flag hanging from the porch. Yet another reminder that I'm not in SoCal anymore.

Vernor's Ginger Ale is reason enough to come to Michigan. Of course, I exaggerate.

I made tuna melts for lunch today, they were delicious.

In Japan, my host mother served me the best drink I ever tasted, it was like toasted milk. I asked her what it was. Green tea, with milk. I add lots of sugar.

Technology is the bane of my existance.

We have three cats. I like one of them, and he never visits me.

The cats like to climb aroudn in my drawers. One is settled down for the night right now.

I live just down the street from a forest. The weather is beauty.

This is my favorite cat. Which says a lot, considering what I feel about cats.

The south study room in Rackham was fabulous today, I had been studying in the main room with John Yim but I kept getting tired. Turns out, a sunny room does a great job keeping me awake.

Sometimes, I don't feel all there.

There's a banner outside the Center for Chinese Studies office with a large character on it, zheng, meaning to testify or demonstrate.

Red Hot Lovers has the best hot dogs in Ann Arbor, and is right across from the School of Social Work. I'm a frequent customer.

The weather is nice enough that folks can sit outside at Red Hot Lovers' picnic tables.

I recommend Red Hot Lovers' Coney Dog (chili) and Serious Dog (slaw).

Ann Arbor's most Underrated Restaurant, Franks, has the most hilarious introduction to its menu, wherein it compares itself to the Parthenon.

I put frozen veggies in my udon. It was better than I expected.

Wednesday, April 14, 2004

I took a new photo of the AATA 12 bus stop sign because the old photo in the header of my weblog showed it with snow in the background... no more!

Yards on Liberty Street are filling with daffodils and violets.

Liberty Street is in bloom with the coming of spring. Bushes of yellow leaves, daffodils, green lawns, etc.

I got my hair cut exactly like I wanted it... and it's only OK.

Tuesday, April 06, 2004

I bought these chicken noodles at the Chinese grocer. They were pretty good, could compete with the udon I get from Krogers.

It was a bright sunny day, and I was stuck in the Fishbowl.

For dinner tonight: chili dog on wheat bread, taco salad, orange slices and toasted tortilla slices.

Saturday, April 03, 2004

I am Ray Huang's biggest fun.

For dinner tonight: Trader Joe's green enchiladas (chiles in white cheese), romaine lettuce with canned apples and dried cranberries, and celery sticks with peanut butter. Ice water to drink.

The new Rackham building has a bunch of fancy, neo-American-classical meeting and study halls.

The walls of the East Alcove of the Reading Room are lined with cubbies where periodicals were kept, John G tells me.

The Bell Tower can be seen through the curtains of the upstairs windows in Rackham.

Unlike the Grad Library reading room, the Rackham study rooms really *are* for grad students only.

There were a bunch of cop cars and automobiles at the intersection of State and Williams this Friday night.
